Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Release Dates - When can you Play?

shotton25

There is much anticipation - and scepticism - about the next Call of Duty game, as fans of the franchise have been hit with various highs and lows over the past few years with each game.

2022's Call of Duty entry is just around the corner and Activision have announced a new play date where players will be able to jump into the action sooner than anticipated. But, players will only be able to access some of the games features early.

Announced on the Call of Duty website, if players pre-order a digital version of the game, they will be able to play the game's single player campaign a week early, from October 20th, ahead of the official release date on October 28th.

This exciting early access to the campaign is available through any digital pre-order of the game. For PS4 and PS5 players can purchase through the PlayStation Store; Xbox One and Xbox Series Series X/S players through the Microsoft Store, and for PC players can pre-order either on Steam of Battle.net.

There is also a little extra bonus for PlayStation players as pre-ordering the game will also let users access two different beta weekends in September (whilst other platforms have access to one beta event).

The fact that Activision and Infinity Ward are letting players access the single player campaign early for players must indicate that this could be a return to form on their story telling and gameplay mechanics for the new instalment. The developers must be very proud of the new campaign if they are willing to release it early to the public.

With this being the second instalment in the rebooted Modern Warfare series, there is so much speculation, anticipation, and excitement for what both the single player and multiplayer has to offer. 2019's Modern Warfare was hit with positive praise from fans and critics and several months after initial release, the gaming world was gifted Warzone, which is still one of the top multiplayer games on the scene right now.

This new instalment in the franchise will surely hit the gaming community and fans of the franchise with more emphasis, and rightly so, as the past few instalments (Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and Call of Duty: Vanguard) have not hit the mark with most fans of the top FPS franchise of all time.
