A brand new six minuet gameplay trailer has just dropped for Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, showcasing a brand-new Lego videogame, that we have never seen before.

TT Games' much anticipated release, was originally set for 20 October 2020, but after numerous delays, the game is now set to release this year on 5th April (2022). It certainly looks like all this time from its original release has paid off as the game looks to be one of the best Star Wars experiences going.

Relive the epic story of all nine films, in the biggest Lego video game yet. From the trailer, players are able to start their journey from any film they so wish. Play in the order of which the films released, or start with the prequel trilogy as Qui Gon Ginn and Obi Wan.

Combat looks to have been completely redesigned. Instead of classic video games where the combat felt quite simple and basic, this new entry sees characters creating combos which will deal significant damage, and fend off oncoming attacks with counter manoeuvres to defeat enemies also. As well as beating up enemies with melee weapons and lightsabre's, a good blaster by your side can also be used, with precision blasting hitting enemies with deadly accuracy. The camera position looks to have been brought in much closer to the player, to a more classic "over the shoulder" 3rd person perspective, different to previous Lego games, which adopted a fixed perspective.

As well as playing through the story of the Skywalker Saga, players can explore the Star Wars galaxy by unlocking planets as the progress through the game. The trailer shows us a gadget known as the holo-projector, where you can access the galaxy map to chart your adventure. The holo-projector looks to be a quick way of accessing many things. We see symbols such as a Lego head, a ship symbol perhaps to be the Millennium Falcon, and other symbols that could be for upgrades for your characters. By exploring the galaxy, space travel comes with its own set of exciting challenges and missions. Classic space dog-fights are shown, and the player will be able to piolet legendary and iconic spaceships, such as the Falcon, Slave 1, X-Wings and more.

The Skywalker Saga is essentially to remake levels that TT Games have previously made. The levels from the original Lego Star Wars games will not just be coated with a new lick of paint and remastered. No. The levels have been remade from the ground up, and the trailer boasts that there will be multiple paths to take in each level. You can either go in all guns blazing or take a much stealthier approach.

Choice is down to the player to either continue the story, or to explore the vast galaxy and visit locations such as Coruscant, Endor, and Tatooine, with over 300 playable characters to choose from, whom you can upgrade and give different abilities. Players can do this by following a familiar formula of Lego games, that is collecting resources. In this case, they are known as Kyber bricks which will reward players with new abilities to upgrade across a range of unique character classes. In the trailer, some of these abilities included traversal with nets, using shock grenades as Boba Fett, and focus shooting points to deal devastating damage.

Finally, there was a little fan favourite treat at the end of the trailer. Mumble mode. Remember how the characters used to mumble and make weird hilarious noises instead of speaking in past Lego games? Well, now there is a feature for fans to experience the game this way, which I think will give the game the charm that recent Lego games have been missing, and give this game the TT games identity that has been lacking in previous instalments.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga certainly looks to be a very immersive game for Star Wars fans, and of the Lego game genre. It is to be the biggest, best looking and most creative Lego video game yet and the fan response on social media has been highly positive. I for one am extremely excited for its release on April 5th.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is out on April 5th 2022 on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC.
